Finch began to play softball at the age of five years old. She is from La Mirada, California. Her father Doug was her first pitching coach. He developed the Finch Windmill which was a arm conditioning device which Jennie began using at 10. Jennie pitched 13 no-hitters as well as six flawless games during high school. In college, she became an University of Arizona All-American first baseman and pitcher.
